POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a seasonal full-time position with potential to evolve into a regular full-time benefited position. This position provides set-up and tear down for the more than 300 fairground events each year. This includes, but is not limited to, putting up pipe and drape, delivering tables and chairs, skirting tables, and responding to event promoter’s requests. This position requires heavy lifting and the ability to work well with our promoters, public and event staff. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including the late shifts as necessary.

This is a regular, full time, non-exempt position in our Maintenance department. This position requires familiarity with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction trade. This is a non- exempt full-time position in our Maintenance Department. This position will require knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; applicable state and federal health and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment. Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal on grounds. Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing gas lines throughout the grounds. An essential function of this position is to report to on-site emergencies in 45 minutes or less (call-in pay premium applies).

This Evening Janitor position is at our Off-Track Betting Facility. This is a part time position with shifts 3 days per week. Regular work schedule is Friday through Sunday from 8 PM to 2:30 AM (shifts are 6 hours in length). This schedule may vary due to racing schedules, holidays and staff coverage. Work on all Holidays except Christmas Day are required. The Evening crew is a 2-person team, responsible for cleaning the inside of the building from the days’ activities. This is a part-time, non-benefited Union position. Membership in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will be required within 30 days of employment.

Human Resources Intern is a seasonal, position associated with our annual fair. This position offers individuals hands-on experience working in the Human Resources field. The intern will work in multiple HR functions with an emphasis on the hiring, onboarding and support of seasonal employees at the annual Alameda County Fair. Multiple positions are available and task assignments based on skills, team needs and the desired focus of individual interns. The position will start as part-time with increased hours during Fair. This position will begin March of 2022 and will continue until middle of July 2022. Our Fair hours are Wednesday through Sunday between 10 AM and 10 PM.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet all incoming visitors as first point of contact, discovering needs and providing assistance

  • Assist in the onboarding process of 300+ seasonal hires

  • Prepare employee files and documents

  • Assist in planning and executing Employee Orientations and Thank You events

  • Generate safety-themed employee information

  • Manage seasonal uniform program

  • Produce employee and vendor ID badges

  • Assist with employee timekeeping and payroll software

  • Sell and reconcile employee discount ticket purchases

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Full-time, exempt supervisory position in our Grounds department has overall responsibility for the groundskeeping team and vegetation on the 260 acres of the fairgrounds. The supervisor directs the planting, pruning and cultivating of trees, shrubs, flowers and the seeding, fertilizing, mowing and trimming of all grounds.

We are looking for an experienced supervisor who can manage our expansive grounds and develop our team. Candidates must be bilingual—fluent in English and Spanish

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct work of staff on maintenance and improvement of grounds and vegetation

  • Plan, organize and oversee the beautification, cleanliness and maintenance of landscaped areas and grounds

  • Prepare, develop and implement grounds maintenance schedules of mowing, planting, watering and fertilizing of landscaped areas

  • Assists in the development and management of annual Grounds operating and capital projects budgeting

  • Coach, train, develop and evaluate staff

  • Conduct safety meetings and proper usage training on all equipment, chemicals and materials

  • Adhere to and enforce safety standards

  • Ensure proper use of methods, materials and equipment used in planting, cultivating and trimming of vegetation

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell, book and schedule RV space for both RV South and RV North Campgrounds

  • Assist in the smooth management of all day-to-day operations of the campgrounds, including in-and-out guest management, conflict resolution and policy enforcement

  • Ensure campgrounds are clean and supplies are stocked and organized

  • Assure all financial transactions meet accounting standards

  • Run RV Campground reports

  • Report park maintenance needs

  • Assist Security and RV Campground/Storage Supervisor with new customer acquisition for RV Storage

  • Moderate landscaping work such as picking up litter, raking leaves and striping lines
