POSITION: Events Department Administrative Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time, non-exempt, benefited position providing administrative and office support activities to Event Sales and Operations Departments. This position is the first contact for phone and walk-in clients. Successful candidates will have a proven track record as a self-starter and computer savvy individual.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greeting guests and clients
  • Fielding telephone calls, filing, data entry
  • Composing correspondence
  • Distributing mail and other communications
  • Creating and analyzing spreadsheets in Excel
  • Crafting Power Point presentations
  • Monitoring office equipment
  • Organizing sales materials
  • Monitoring, ordering and tracking supplies for all Events Departments
  • Researching and analyzing special projects
  • Conducting customer tours
  • Managing calendars and monthly schedules
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings in Outlook Calendar
  • Maintaining the Event Sales Office in presentable condition at all times
  • Supporting management staff with reports, travel arrangements, meeting set up, etc.
  • Acting as a marketing liaison on marketing projects to ensure timelines are met
  • Assisting with Decorating orders, sales, commercial vendor information distribution and other Fair-time duties as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High level communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong Computer Skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Suite and have ability to learn new programs
  • Proven Intermediate skill level in Excel
  • Proven ability to handle fluctuating workloads in a fast paced environment with changing deadlines
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • A proven self-starter
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
  • Experience working with financial statements and budgets a plus
  • Able to sit for long durations, lift 20lbs. and walk up to 5 miles as part of the day to day experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time, benefited position beginning immediately in our Maintenance Department. This position provides administrative and office support to our Maintenance Office in the day-to-day operations of maintaining our facility and ongoing projects. The qualified candidate is organized, detail oriented and deadline conscious. Candidates need good computer and customer service skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Key role in organizing and maintaining work orders for facility
  • Administratively supporting multiple staff members and sub-departments
  • Coordinating and scheduling vendors for projects
  • Monitoring and assisting with projects from conception to completion
  • Sorting, copying and filing
  • Maintaining and updating various databases
  • Creating, analyzing and maintaining information using Excel & Access

POSITION: Plumber

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a non- exempt full-time position in our Maintenance Department. This position will require knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; applicable state and federal health and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.  Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal on grounds.  Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing gas lines throughout the grounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing or maintaining hot water heating systems
  • Repairing sanitation systems
  • Installing and repairing plumbing lines, pipes and valves
  • Repairing and/or replacing broken and inoperable bathroom fixtures
  • Clearing and/or unclogging drains
  • Emergency repairs as needed
  • Performing and taking regular water samples for submission to testing agency
  • Maintaining water distribution system for potable water and grounds usage
  • Other tasks as determined and required by management

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights
  • Knowledge of first aid and safety precautions
  • Ability to work independently or with a team and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair broad range of plumbing fixtures and components, pumps and valves as appropriate to the trade

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Event Set up Specialist

SALARY: $14-$16/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a temporary full-time position starting January through September with potential to evolve into a regular full-time benefited position. This position provides set-up and tear down for the more than 350 fairground events each year. This includes putting up pipe and drape, delivering tables and chairs, skirting tables, and responding to event promoter’s requests. This position requires heavy lifting and the ability to work well with our promoters, public and event staff. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including the late shifts as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with a team of event sales and services staff to provide excellent service
  • Skirt tables ordered by promoter
  • Set up and tear down events including custodial functions
  • Plan and set up pipe and drapeaccording to layout drawings
  • Deliver and set up carpet, tables and chairs
  • Promptly and courteously respond to Promoters and Vendors’ concerns  and requests during events
  • Cleans tables, chairs, windows, carpet, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Good communication skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • Experience working in a large event venue
  • Capable of following instructions and layout design
  • Ability to get and maintain a California Driver’s License and be eligible to be insured by our insurance provider
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well with a team or independently
  • Forklift experience or Class B license a plus
